Natural Environment and History
Developed in 1967 by Daiichi Kanko Kaihatsu Co., Ltd., Asama Highland Park is located within a special protection area of Joshin’etsukogen National Park.
Because of its protected natural environment, alpine plants such as Gankoran and Kuro-mamenoki grow naturally around the resort. Each season brings a different atmosphere. Fresh highland breezes blow through the area from spring to summer, autumn covers the landscape in colorful foliage, and winter creates a quiet, almost dreamlike scenery.
Public and Private Zones
The resort is broadly divided into a Public Zone and a Private Zone.
The Public Zone near the entrance contains leisure facilities, shops, and restaurants that can be used by visitors. Farther inside, the Private Zone is primarily occupied by vacation homes. Security gates at the entrances help maintain a peaceful and private environment for residents and long-stay guests.
A Variety of Outdoor Activities
Miniature Golf and Disc Golf
The resort offers miniature golf on a natural grass course with gentle undulations. The course is accessible to both children and adults, while equipment rentals make it easy for first-time players to participate.
Disc golf is another popular activity. Players throw a flying disc toward a target and compete to complete the course in as few throws as possible. It is an enjoyable way to experience the surrounding natural environment while getting some exercise.
Boating and Fishing
A pond within the resort provides opportunities to enjoy rowboats. Visitors can relax on the calm water while surrounded by the peaceful scenery of the highlands.
During summer, fishing activities are also available, with species such as red crucian carp and motsugo among the fish that can be caught. These waterside activities provide a relaxing way to enjoy nature at the resort.
Archery and Target Bird Golf
Archery is available with instruction from staff, making it suitable even for beginners.
The resort also offers the unusual sport of target bird golf, which uses a shuttlecock-like ball. These activities provide visitors with opportunities to try recreational sports that they may not encounter at ordinary resorts.
Indoor Leisure Facilities
Asama Highland Park also has indoor facilities that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather.

Highland Mart
Highland Mart sells food and daily necessities as well as souvenirs from the Karuizawa area. Visitors can also find locally grown highland vegetables, naturally fermented bread, and natural cheese.
The shop also offers Asama Highland Park’s original wine, making it a convenient place to find a special souvenir or something to enjoy during a stay.
Café Restaurant Atagoal
Café Restaurant Atagoal offers an open setting where guests can look toward Mount Asama across the surrounding lawn.
The menu includes a variety of dishes such as meat dishes, curry, pasta, and pizza. Lunch options are available at relatively accessible prices, while dinner is offered by reservation for guests who prefer a relaxed evening meal.
Accommodation and Resort Facilities
The resort grounds are home to Holiday Villa Karuizawa Hotel & Resort, which offers accommodation together with facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.
The hotel’s location provides views toward Mount Asama and an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely highland stay surrounded by nature.

Access to Asama Highland Park
From JR Karuizawa Station, the resort can be reached by a Kusakaru Kotsu bus in approximately 34 minutes. Get off at the Asama Highland Park bus stop, located immediately near the resort.
By car, the journey takes approximately 40 minutes from the Usui-Karuizawa Interchange on the Joshin’etsu Expressway.
Its convenient access from Karuizawa and the Tokyo metropolitan area makes the resort suitable for both short visits and longer highland stays.
