A Large Dutch-Style Windmill and Panoramic Views
The most recognizable symbol of the facility is its impressive 22-meter-high Dutch-style windmill.
The large brown windmill is one of the largest of its kind in the northern Kanto region and serves as a landmark that can be seen from a considerable distance. A spacious grassy area surrounds the windmill, providing plenty of room to relax and enjoy the open landscape.
Views across Maebashi
An observation area near the windmill offers sweeping views over Maebashi City. On clear days, the distant landscape can be seen stretching far beyond the city.
The nighttime view is particularly beautiful during winter, when the crisp, clear air enhances visibility. The contrast between the majestic ridgeline of Mount Akagi behind the park and the lights of the city below creates a memorable landscape.
Meet Animals and Enjoy Family-Friendly Play Areas
Within the Green Flower Ranch, visitors can see a variety of animals, including cows, sheep, ponies, rabbits, and birds.
At the Animal Interaction Area, visitors can also feed some of the animals. The chance to encounter animals in an open natural setting is especially popular with children and makes for a memorable family experience.
Athletic Playground and Roller Slide
The eastern side of the park features large athletic playground equipment and a roller slide, giving children plenty of opportunities to run, climb, and play.
The spacious surroundings and refreshing breeze make it an enjoyable place for families to spend time outdoors and stay active.
Camping, Barbecues, and Outdoor Adventures
The western section includes a campsite with open lawns, a barbecue garden, and 11 bungalows.
The barbecue garden is available for a fee and provides an easy way to enjoy an outdoor meal surrounded by nature. Some plans allow guests to enjoy a barbecue without having to bring all their own equipment, making the experience accessible even for casual visitors.
Zipline Adventure
In 2025, a zipline was also added to the facility, offering a more adventurous way to enjoy the park. Reservations are required.
Gliding through the air while feeling the breeze provides an exhilarating experience that adds another dimension to a visit to the ranch.
Local Food at Restaurant Makiba
On the eastern side of the park, Restaurant Makiba serves a wide selection of meals, including noodle dishes and Japanese-style set meals.
One of its most popular dishes is the hearty motsu-ni set meal, featuring pork offal slowly simmered until tender in a richly flavored sauce. The dish is known for its satisfying taste without an unpleasant smell and is a favorite among visitors.
The menu also includes udon, soba, ramen, fried chicken set meals, and curry rice, providing options for visitors of all ages.
Fresh Local Produce at Sampo-michi
On the western side of the facility, the Sampo-michi Flower, Tree, and Agricultural Products Market sells fresh produce from Maebashi and the surrounding area.
The selection includes fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fruit, pickles, flowers, ornamental plants, and other local products. Because the selection changes with the seasons, the market is an excellent place to discover local specialties and choose souvenirs to take home.
Popular Soft-Serve Ice Cream
The adjoining Milk House is known for its soft-serve ice cream, making it a popular stop for a refreshing treat after exploring the park or shopping at the market.
Seasonal Scenery and Local Events
Each season brings a different atmosphere to Green Flower Ranch Ohgo.
In spring, cherry trees bloom throughout the ranch, creating a colorful setting. The rows of cherry trees along the walking paths are particularly attractive during the blossom season and draw many visitors for hanami, the traditional Japanese custom of enjoying cherry blossoms.
Summer brings lush green lawns and refreshing breezes, while autumn offers clear skies and landscapes reflecting the season’s harvest.
Weekend Events
Events are sometimes held on weekends around the grassy areas, with food trucks and various activities adding to the lively atmosphere.
A small shop also opens beneath the Dutch-style windmill on weekends and public holidays, selling toys, sweets, snacks, and other items.
Access
By car, Michi-no-Eki Green Flower Ranch Ohgo is approximately 30 minutes from the Komagata Interchange on the Kita-Kanto Expressway or about 20 minutes from the Akagi Interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway.
For visitors using public transportation, travel from JR Maebashi Station on foot to Jōmō Electric Railway’s Chūō-Maebashi Station, then take the train to Ōgo Station. From the station, the facility is approximately 15 minutes by car or demand-responsive bus.
